RM2M0XAY2–Map of the siege of the town of Neisse by General Harsch's Austrian army, 1758. On 3rd October 1758, Harsch's troops arrived in Neisse. The main part of the troops encamped on the left bank of the Neisse River, deploying Grenzer hussars and light troops on the right bank to cut off all communications. On 21 October Prussian troops launched their first artillery fire on Austrian positions. On the morning of 26 October, Frederick the Great's Prussian troops took possession of Gorlitz and opened bridges over the Neisse River to move into Silesia and seize the town's fortress. Prussian troops surrounded the Swedish garrison of Stralsund (capital of Swedish Pomerania). The Prussians could not isolate the town by sea because they lacked a fleet, but they cut-off and blockaded it by land on December 30, 1757. Finally the blockade was raised on 16th June 1758 when mainly of the Prussian forces were withdrawn to reinforce military actions elsewhere. RM2M0F3F7–Seven Years War (1756-1763). Map of the blockade of Prussian troops at Prague, 1757. Besieged by the Prussian King Frederick the Great from 7th May 1757. The blockade continued for 42 days. In the meantime, an Austrian army under the command of Marshal Daun marched to the aid of the besieged. Frederick the Great decided to mobilise the Duke of Bevern's army to cut off Daun's army. On 8 June, Kaunitz ordered Daun to start the operation to liberate Prague, and the troops began their advance on 12 June. RM2M0XAXH–Seven Years War (1756-1763). Map of the Russian bombardment of Memel, 1757. On June 19, 1757 the Russian army, commanded by Field Marshal Stepan Fyodorovich Apraksin, besieged the town to seize one of the most strongest fortresses in Prussia. After five days of severe artillery fire, Russian troops succeeded in their assault. The garrison capitulated on 6 July and and was taken by the Russians for the rest of the war. The Allied army (British, Prussians, Hessians and Brunswickian troops) led by Field Marshal Duke Ferdinand of Brunswick, Prince of Brunswick-Lüneburg (1721-1792), fought against the French, under the command of Charles de Rohan, prince de Soubise (1715-1787). The French were forced to retreat, resulting in an Allied victory.
