It consisted of a chair or windowed cabin suitable for a single occupant, also carried by at least two porters in front and behind, using wooden rails that pass through brackets on the sides of the chair. RM2B01C1Y–Vietnam: Modern commercial painting of a young woman in an ao dai dress descending from a covered pony cart, copied from a 1950s photograph, for sale in Saigon. The ao dai (Vietnamese: áo dài) is a Vietnamese national costume, now most commonly for women. In its current form, it is a tight-fitting silk tunic worn over pantaloons. The word is pronounced ow-zye in the north and ow-yai in the south, and translates as 'long dress'. The name áo dài was originally applied to the dress worn at the court of the Nguyễn Lords at Huế in the 18th century. This outfit evolved into the áo ngũ thân.

RMRY4XE2–A 1900 illustration of an old sedan chair carried by two bearers. It was introduced in London Sir Saunders Duncombe after seeing one in Sedan (France) and quickly became popular as a mode of public transport throughout Britain, especially in the narrow streets of Edinburgh, Scotland. The removable roof allowed for the tall, elaborate headdresses sported by fashionable ladies at the time and 'link boys' would carry torches at night to light the way.
RMRFT706–The River Fleet is the largest of London's subterranean rivers. Its headwaters are two streams on Hampstead Heath, each of which was dammed into a series of ponds—the Hampstead Ponds and the Highgate Ponds—in the 18th century. At the southern edge of Hampstead Heath these descend underground as sewers and join in Camden Town. The waters flow 4 miles from the ponds along the Fleet Ditch to the River Thames.
