Jenny Lund, Curator of Fine Art at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, inspects some of the 235 political caricatures collected by Kenneth Baker (later Lord Baker of Dorking) recently purchased by the museum, depicting The Prince Regent, Prince Of Wales, King George IV and Political Figures between 1790 and 1820.The prints, from Lord Baker of Dorking’s extensive collection, are by artists from the golden age of political caricature (1784-1832) – and include James Gillray (1757-1815), Thomas Rowlandson (1756-1827), George Cruikshank (1792-1878), Isaac Cruikshank (1756-1811) and his son Isaac Robert Cruikshank (1789-1856), William ‘Paul Pry’ Heath (1795-1840), William Dent (fl. 1783-1793), and Theodore Lane (fl.1800-1828).
