Brit., t. 52.; and om Jig. 781.) — Leaves oblong, wedge-shaped at the base. These trees bear so close a resemblance to P. A'via, as to leave no doubt in our mind that they are only varieties and subvarieties of that species. They are found in a wild state in France, Germany, and Sweden ; and perhaps also in the Highlands of Scotland, where, according to Sir W. J. Hooker, P.
