Test train leaves St Pancras on record runs in Manchester and back. A test train on the LMS left St Pancras station for a run to Manchester and back over the Midland route at a timing of 31 minutes faster than the regular schedule. The run was experimental and was undertaken so that valuable technical data could be secured by experts staff of the Dynamometer Car. The train was expected to touch speeds in the vicinity of 90 miles an hour during the run, the experimental schedule from London to Leicester and Derby was the fastest on record.
