RM2GY4P30–In June 1936, Hitler appointed Reichsführer SS Heinrich Himmler as head of the German police. The SS, which Himmler had taken over in 1929 and which was then only 80 strong, had in the meantime become so interwoven with the police apparatus that it already formed a state within the state. RF2BGR2JM–Gauleiter Julius Streicher (1885-1946), delivering a speech at the 'opening of the Third Craft Competitions of the Province of Franconia on the Adolf Hitler Square, Nurnberg, February 2, 1936, German Worker's Front, Franconia.' Streicher was addressing ranks of uniformed men and boys. Note the big round baffles covering and protecting the microphones from rain and wind. Streicher was one of Hitler's earliest supporters and rewarded him with protection against whoever hated Streicher's anti-Jewish rantings and publications.
