Farnborough, Hampshire, England, UK was home to the Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) and the players are wearing their RAF uniforms. Eight months after his call-up in Northern Ireland, an apprehensive RAF trainee is about to take his first flight. The aircarft is a Tiger Moth biplane. This was the first of seventeen training flights before he was shipped to Canada in November 1943 to start training at Picton bomb and gunnery school.

His service dress or uniform is made from Barathea, a traditional worsted wool fabric, smoother than an airman's heavy and thick wool uniform. On the lower left arm of his tunic, a points-up chevron insignia, which was an RAF Good Conduct Stripe, in the middle of the tunic, just above the elbow, a propeller emblem, denoting a Leading Aircraftman and on the upper arm, an RAF Shoulder Flash.
