Signor Achille Starace, Secretary General of the Fascist Party, vaulting wicked looking bayonets in one of the physical fitness tests for fascist officials instituted by Mussolini and carried out at the Mussolini Forum in Rome under the eye of the Duce. Several of the officials failed in this test and were badly slashed. Signor Starade and seven others were the only competitors to successfully complete the whole of the tests. 2 July 1938

A gang of 18 pickpockets were arrested at the wedding breakfast following the marriage in Paris of a poll named Herman Katz, stated to be the leader of the gang, and a Polish woman Chano Holdorf. The wedding party was being held in the private salon as a cafe in the Rue du Roi de Caicile when the police Commissioner Terry and 15 plainclothed inspectors burst into the room and break up the party. This picture, made in Ponce, Porto Rico, West Indies dependency of the United States, shows the first shots fired in the writing, in which 20 people were killed, when police clashed with members of the Nationalist Party. A policeman who can be seen, although his gun is hidden by another figure, is firing towards a group of fleeing people. Cadets of the Nationalist party are motionless, but girl nurses can be seen running across the street. A report issued by a committee termed the riot and resulting casualties a 'massacre'. 24 June 1937

Four country lads, members of Young Farmers Clubs, left St Pancras Station on the 'Maloja' boat train for Australia. This is a return visit following the coming of a team of Australian young farmers to Britain last summer to take part in the yearly International Dairy Cattle Judging Competition. The team from Britain will take part in the 150th anniversary celebrations in Australia and will be away for about six months. A special fund was created to pay the expenses of the trip. Signor Achille Starace, Secretary General of the Fascist Party, vaulting wicked looking bayonets in one of the physical fitness tests for fascist officials instituted by Mussolini and carried out at the Mussolini Forum in Rome under the eye of the Duce.
