It was erected to celebrate the Royal visit of Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Tour of the country. The imposing arch has an interesting design, with indigenous Aboriginal art topped with the royal crown (it would probably not be politically correct to mix the two in that way today). In front is an ‘atomic’ style hanging sculpture/mobile. The same arch was first used in Sydney for the Queen’s visit to that city. It was then swiftly moved to Melbourne – a vintage 1950s photograph.

Founded in 1858 Refuge Assurance was still trading in 1996. It became part of the Royal London Group.

Faisal bin Abdul Aziz - the King of saudi Arabia from 1964 to 1975- founded the school in Taif in the early 1950s and subsquently opened a large campus in Jeddah. The 'model' school became the most prestigious in the city with children of the Royal family attending. One can see that the boys wear 'western-style' school uniforms rather that Arabian clothing of thobes and headresses. The English language was widely taught. Osama bin Laden attended Al-Thager from 1968-1976.

RM2G2KW29–There is colourful bunting across the street and union flags flying in the High Street, Littlehampton, West Sussex, England, UK in 1953. This was for the coronation of Elizabeth II which took place on 2 June 1953 at Westminster Abbey, London. Elizabeth II acceded to the throne at the age of 25 on the death of her father, George VI in 1952. The street was home to the Art Deco Odeon cinema (centre left).
