Emperor Kangxi (4 May 1654 – 20 December 1722), personal name Xuanye and temple name Shengzu, was the fourth ruler of the Qing Dynasty and the second Qing emperor to rule over China proper, from 1661 to 1722. Kangxi's reign of 61 years makes him the longest-reigning Chinese emperor in history (although his grandson, the Qianlong Emperor, had the longest period of de facto power) and one of the longest-reigning rulers in the world. He is considered one of China's greatest emperors.

RM2RFMRJ4–A 17th century plan of the Battle of the Boyne, a battle on 1st July 1690, between the forces of the deposed King James II, and those of King William III who had acceded to the Crowns of England and Scotland in 1689. The battle took place across the River Boyne close to the town of Drogheda in Ireland, and resulted in a victory for William. This turned the tide in James's failed attempt to regain the British crown and ultimately aided in ensuring the continued Protestant ascendancy in Ireland.
