Poland. Gdansk. Monument to Those Who Fell in a fight for the Polish Character in the period from the Gdansk massacre, 1308, until the end of II World War. Erected in 1969 by Wawrzyniec Samp (b. 1939) and Wiesław Pietron (b. 1934) and symbolises an axe stuck in the ground. Square at Podwale Staromiejskie Street.
