RMDNTBCG–A commemorative badge for the inauguration of President Zachary Taylor. Taylor was sworn in on March 5, 1849, a day later than the customary inauguration date, which in 1849 fell on a Sunday. The badge features a bust portrait of Taylor in uniform, which appears to be based on one of several daguerreotypes of the general taken at and shortly after the close of the Mexican War. It is set within a rectangular frame which is entwined with a thin vine. The frame is surmounted by a globe on which rest an American flag, a scroll, and an eagle holding arrows and olive branch.

RM2H7DXGY–The Medal of the Second Madagascar Expedition (1895) on display in the Armistice Museum in the Forest of Compiègne (Forêt de Compiègne) near Compiègne in France. French general Louis Auguste Adrian (1859 – 1933) was awarded by this French commemorative medal known as the Madagascar commemorative medal (Médaille commémorative de Madagascar). The Armistice Museum is located on the ground of the Glade of the Armistice where the Armistice of 11 November 1918 that ended the First World War was signed.

RF2EC7NT8–This 1880s illustration shows a Consular Diptych of Flavius Felix. Flavius Felix was a general of the Western Roman Empire, who reached the prominent rank of patrician before being killed probably by order of Flavius Aetius. For his consulate, in 428, he issued some consular diptychs, one of which (seen here) has been preserved until modern times. In Late Antiquity, a consular diptych was a type of diptych intended as a deluxe commemorative object. The diptychs were generally in ivory, wood or metal and decorated with rich relief sculpture.
