Martyrdom of Ælfheah of Canterbury, Anglo- Saxon bishop of Winchester, later Archbishop of Canterbury. Captured by Viking raiders in 1011 and killed by them in 1012 after refusing to be ransomed. Canonised in 1078. Also known as Alphege/Elphege, /Alfege or Godwine, 954 – 19 April 1012.
