The Crucifixion of Christ, before 1577, Pen and brown and ink, brush and brown ink, heightened with white gouache; on blue paper, 16-1/4 x 10-3/8 in. (41.3 x 26.4 cm), Drawings, Hans Speckaert (Netherlandish, Brussels ca. 1540–1577 Rome), Hans Speckaert was one of several Northern Mannerist painters working in Rome in the sixteenth century. His close study of the art of Michelangelo, Raphael, and other Italian Renaissance masters informs the muscular, monumental figures in this Crucifixion
