Video licenses

Alamy has the right license for you whether you’re pulling together a presentation or producing a fully-fledged advertising campaign - and everything in between.

You'll need to think about how and where the video will be used and the clarity needed. 4K gives a clearer, higher resolution because it uses roughly 4000 horizontal pixels. Standard HD uses 1080 horizontal pixels.

What’s the difference between an Individual and Team?

An Individual license is for a single user, allowing them to use videos in various projects but not share or transfer the license. A Team license provides more flexibility for multiple users, enabling them to share videos while collaborating on a project.

I’m an individual user, and I can’t find the license I need. What should I do?

If you’re an individual but your usage exceeds the limitations of an individual license i.e using the video on something other than a website or social media in one project, you’ll need to opt for a team license that meets your usage requirements, even if you're acting as a single user.

What is meant by 'Restrictions stated before or at the time of purchase may limit the scope of permissible usage'?

When licensing a video, whether through purchase at checkout or by downloading from a video pack, you may encounter a warning notification outlining specific usage restrictions. For example, the video you selected might be limited to editorial purposes only.

For more information on usage restrictions, please visit our Help Hub.

What is meant by Single project use and Multiple re-use?

Single Project Use refers to the use of licensed content in a single, specific project or production. Once the content has been used for that project, it cannot be reused in other projects without obtaining an additional license.

Multiple Re-use allows the licensed content to be used in multiple projects or productions without requiring a new license for each one. This is ideal for content that you plan to use across different media or campaigns.

Is an HD or 4K video right for me?

When choosing between an HD or 4K video license, consider how and where the video will be used, as well as the level of clarity needed.

4K video offers a higher resolution with approximately 4,000 horizontal pixels, making it ideal for projects that require exceptional clarity, such as cinematic productions, high-end advertising, or large screen displays.

HD video uses 1080 horizontal pixels, providing clear resolution that is suitable for most standard online content, presentations, and smaller screen displays.

Evaluate your project needs to determine which resolution best suits your purpose.
