The village is situated on the shore of LoughrosMore Bay, close by is Loughros Beg Bay, and inland the shelter-ing heights of Monargan, Mogumna and Glengesh hills arebacked up by Mulmosog (1, 157 feet), Crocknapeast (1, 652 feet), and Croaghvehy (1, 228 feet). One of the most interestingexcursions is to Slhuetooey (1, 458 feet) : a car road skirts thebeautiful Loughros Beg Bay for some considerable distance, butthe mountain itself and the grand cliffs with which it terminatesabruptly in the sea must be explored on foot. Just before the. LOUGH ROS BAY. 105 road ceases in the wild waste of sand at Maghera Strand thebeautiful waterfall at Asherancally is reached, and close byare the famous Caves of Maghera, which penetrate for severalhundred yards into the base of the cliffs, and can only be exploredat low water. Leaving the car at Maghera Strand the touristcan proceed on foot to the top of Slievetooey from which amagnificent view is obtained, and he may then revel in the grandcliff scenery at the base of the mountain and in the direction ofGlen Head. For fine examples of wild, storm-beaten rockscenery the cliffs about here are only excelled, —if they be so, —
