March 25, 2023, Munich, Bavaria, Germany: A demonstrator in Munich, Germany wears patches of the former Azov Battalion after holding a speech about the Azovstal defenders of Mariupol, some of whom are still in Russian captivity. The former Azov Battalion was converted to the Azov Regiment and the highly taboo Wolfsangel displayed here was changed and forbidden. Such displays in Germany are currently isolated incidents and there is currently no evidence of neonazi influence at the demos. Many who demonstrate for the plight of the Azovstal defenders conflate them with the Azov Regiment who were only a portion of the forces that ultimately surrendered. The Ukrainian community and German supporters of Ukraine's defense demonstrated at Munich's Stachus against the Olympics allowing Russian athletes to compete despite their invasion of Ukraine. Critics maintain this will be a valuable propaganda and PR win for Russia. (Credit Image: © Sachelle Babbar/ZUMA Press Wire) EDITORIAL USAGE ONLY! Not for Commercial USAGE!
