The common iliac arteries give off a few unimportantbranches to the ureters, peritoneum, etc. the internal iliac or hypogastric artery(a. hypogastrica) is about an inch and a half in length, extending from the bifur-cation of the common iliac, about the sacrolumbar junction, tothe upper border of the great sacrosciatic foramen, where itdivides into the anterior and posterior trunks. The branches from the anterior trunk are:—Superior vesical (a. vesiculis superior), is the perviousremains of the fetal hypogastric artery.
