Gromwell, Lithospermum officinale. Handcoloured botanical drawn and engraved by Pierre Bulliard from his own "Flora Parisiensis," 1776, Paris, P.F. Didot. Pierre Bulliard (1752-1793) was a famous French botanist who pioneered the three-colour-plate printing technique. His introduction to the flowers of Paris included 640 plants.
