It is not an early sort, but onaccount of its great heat-resisting qualities, can be abso-lutely depended on for a mid-season or late Lettuce. Thequality is all that could be desired; tender, crisp anijsweet, even to the outside leaves. Pkt. 5c; oz. 10c; 14 lb. 30c; 1 lb. $1.10, . The Lettuce is universally grown by those whohave gardens. It is of easy growth and will thrivein any ordinary garden soil. Sow thinly in rowsone foot apart, and when large enough thin outthe plants so as to leave room for growth. To ob-tain good Lettuce all through the season it is ne-cessary to make sowings at sliort intervals, forLettuce during the hot months is apt to becomebitter and run to seed. For home use we recom-mend the Head Lettuce in preference to the loose-leaved varieties; they are finer flavored, more solid, tender and crisp, and usually without a trace ofthe bitter flavor so common in the loose-leavedsorts. 1 ox. to 150 feet of drill.
