It is not widely appreciated by the public that the European Herring Gull is on the conservation 'Red List'. People regularly allow their dogs to chase them on the beaches and sea fronts. I takes 3-4 seasons for the gull to become an adult. Britain's populaton boosted in winter from European visitors.
