The generic name Chmula Hamilton-Buchanan, IS22, has priority over Amhassis Cuvier, 1828. The name Amhassis is not used in a generic sense by Commerson or by Lac^pfede. The first reviser of Chanda, Fowler (Proc. .c. Nat. Sci. Pliila. 1905, p. 500), has chosen laJa as typo, and as this is a species of the group called Pseudamhassis, Chanda would replace the latter name, thus allowing Arnbassis to stand for the original type, Ainbassis ainbassis.
