Distribution of fossil remains of Microtus gregalis (Pallas) in the British Isles. Although M. anglicus (= M. gregalis) is recorded from Dog Holes Cave (Jackson 1912) four specimens from this locality preserved in the British Museum (Natural History) and labelled by Hinton as M. anglicus do not belong to this species but to M. agrestis. Distribution in the British Isles. M. gregalis was present in the southern parts of England during the Last Glaciation, but is absent in all earlier sediments. It probably reached Britain only once and disappeared before the end of the last glacial period..
