Air woman on trial in France, a year after midair drama. Shot pilot in court. Nearly a year after she had crashed in England, Mme Irene Schmeder appeared at the Versailles Assizes (France) , charged with the attempted murder of Pierre Lallement who she says was her lover. Mme Schmeder is alleged to have shot Lallemant when they were flying above Villacoubla. He managed to land the plane, but she took off again, alone, and crashed near Brighton, England. Concerning the mid air incident she says that she intended to shoot herself, but the plane jerked and the bullet struck Lallemant. Photo shows
