A man is smoking a long-stemmed pipe; another pipe and a roll of tobacco are on a table in front of him. Engraving from "Een korte beschrijvinge van het wonderlijcke kruyt tobacco, title page vignette", 1623. This engraving is the first known image of a man smoking a pipe which originally appeared in Anthony Chute's Tabaco, 1595. This image has been color enhanced.
