In calling your attention to the following list of novelties for 1902 originating on our place, we wish to state that six out of the set of nine received Certificates from the Chrysanthemum Society of America, and the balance were awarded honorable prizes at Kansas City. In com- piling the descriptions, only facts are given as the varieties appear to us. As far as possible, we have compared with other varieties, believing that sucli a course would be more accept- able and give a clearer idea of the color, type, etc. It has been our good fortune to secure many prizes the past season, including the Interna- tional prize at Chicago, and the $200.00 awarded to the best seedling at Kansas City. We com- mend the following: Opah.—(Lady Fitzwigram x Marquise de Montemort.) This is the variety so strongly en- dorsed by the Cincinnati and Chicago committees of the C. S. A.; one recommends for florists planting, and the other considers it superior to either Mme. Bergman or Lady Fitzwigram. A large flower in- termediate between its parents in form; white, slightly suffused with pink. The late buds show a decided pink coloring and the early ones pro- duce nearly white flowers; feet high. Second crown buds taken Aug. loth were cut Oct. 4th ; 6 inches in diameter. Much easier to manage than Lady Fitzwigram. C. S. A. Cer- tificate. 50c each; $40.00 per 100. Oresco.—(Superba x Yellow .Jones.) Resembles Mrs. Jones in foliage, habit and form.
