You beaut! Miss Australia is top of the world: An Australian girl who once arrived penniless in London looking for a job was crowned Miss World last night. She is Miss Australia 20-year-old Belinda Green, a 34-24-34 photographic model from Melbourne. Beauty Belinda said: "I know the bookies had me second favourite, but I thought I was more of a 50-1 shot." Second in the contest, at London's Albert Hall, was Miss Norway, Ingeborg Sorensen, 24.
