View W from Clogwyn Maldy of Dulyn Bothy (lower R) & Llyn Dulyn reservoir air crash site in the eastern Carneddau, Snowdonia, North Wales, UK. The first dam was built in 1881 to increase the capacity of the natural lake which supplies drinking water to Llandudno. The two-roomed, single-storey cottage was built around the same time: since 1990 it has been maintained by the Mountain Bothies Association for the use of walkers. Restoration work (replacing wooden floors etc.) was in progress when this photo was taken in July 2018. The lake & cliff (Craig y Dulyn) have been the scene of several air crashes, most notably that of a Douglas C-47B Dakota (registration no. 43-48473) of the USAF 27th Air Transport Group which flew into the crag on 11 November 1944 killing all four crew members. Part of a flight of four C-47s flying from Le Bourget (Paris) to Burtonwood (Cheshire) who were diverted to RAF Valley (Anglesey) when Burtonwood was closed because of bad weather.
