View SE of the Whispering Knights portal dolmen, Oxfordshire, UK: the limestone slabs are the remains of a Neolithic burial chamber with the fallen capstone front L. The 3 stones at the SE formed a blind entrance portal. The monument near Little Rollright is part of a prehistoric complex which includes a standing stone & a stone circle. Known collectively as the Rollright Stones, they have been incorporated into the folk tale of a Danish king (the King Stone), his army (the King's Men) & five conspiritorial knights all turned to stone by the trickery of a witch.
