Dinosaur footprints from the early Jurassic Period were found in Maotai town, Zunyi city, southwest China's Guizhou province. A construction company happened to expose a rock surface covered with marks in 2013 and staff from the company contacted archaeologists to verify the discovery after hearing news report of dinosaur footprints found in another place. Xing Lida, an associate professor from China University of Geosciences, said these footprints belonged to sauropod dinosaurs and were well-preserved and important for research purposes.
