TOKYO, Japan Kyodo - Japanese Emperor Hirohito (R) meets Gen. Douglas MacArthur at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo on Sep. 27, 1945. The Imperial Household Agency is due to publish the 12,000-page annals of the emperor, posthumously known as Emperor Showa (1901-1989), in mid-September after some 24 years of work. (Kyodo)
