This is a colourised image of a young Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945) often referred to as FDR. He defeated the Republican candidate in 1932(Herbert Hoover) to become the 32nd President of the USA. He served four terms as President. He died in April 1945 just months after his re-election and was succeeded by Harry Truman. Roosevelt has been described as the most important figures in American history, due to his economic success in tackling the Great Depression and his policies that brought America through the wartime years of 1939-1945.
