The sign for Advika is seen in Ukrainian colors. The town has exchanged hands many times and experienced some of the worst fighting over the years. The conflict in the Eastern Ukraine has become more political than physical since 2014 when 12,000 lost their lives. Today though, it is spasmodic and most shelling is during the nighttime. (The official observers from OSCE organization do not monitor at night!). Due to the Minsk ceasefire both parties try to respect it and only light equipment is seen in use.
