Professor Wright, the Dean of the Faculty at the University of St Andrews, offered General Marian Kukiel, the CO of the 1st Polish Corps, facilities for Polish Army students to continue their studies at the University. The offer was accepted and out of 350 candidates, 100 were selected for further education in English, political science, economics, French literature, arts, chemistry and research. Some of the students already hold degrees in Polish universities.
