Cw 7057 The Muck stops here Parbold landfill protest sign. A landfill protest sign, “The Muck stops here” alongside the A5209, Hall Lane at Appley Bridge near Parbold in Lancashire. Plans have been submitted to Lancashire County Council to tip inert waste onto the top of an old landfill site near Parbold in Lancashire. The original landfill site is on the side of Parbold Hill, a local view point. It used to be a quarry for stone and was filled in with domestic waste brought by train from Manchester in the 1980’s and 90’s. Some local residents are not happy with the prospect of the new tipping and have formed a protest group, organizing an on line petition. This is being promoted by various signs along the roads and in the villages around the site.
