One of the most important, and least known, battles of WWII. A small British and Indian force dug in around the District Commissioner's bungalow and tennis court held out against a much superior Japanese force and thus prevented the invasion of British India. It is believed that up to 10'000 men died in this most savage battle between le 8th of April and the 13th of May 1944. Many Japanese casualties occurred during their army's retreat as men died of starvation... in the jungle where their bodies are said to be still lying.
