The bronze blade of a Chinese sword, bearing an inscription, Eastern Zhou, 5th - early 3rd century BC, Sturdy, solid blade with a broad tang, pronounced medial ridge and continuous, prominent, offset bevel, approximately 3 mm wide. The blade tapering almost imperceptibly towards the tip, the edges coming sharply together just before the point. On one side, to the left of the medial ridge, the upper part of the blade bears an inscription wrought in gold wire inlays. Dark green patina, overlaid with incrustation. Width of the tang 2.7 cm.
