About 9500 Swedish volunteer soldiers participated in the war. Here at Rovaniemi, North Finland. Finnish Major General Kurt Wallenius, 1893-1984. He was appointed Commander of the Lapland Group by Gustaf Mannerheim who was commander-in-chief of Finland's defence.
