RM2HJYJ90–1940s, historical view from this time of Lord Leycester's hospital, Warwick, England, UK. Situated next to West Gate on the High Street, Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester acquired the buildings in 1571, to be used as a hospital for aged or injured soliders under a royal charter from Queen Elizabeth 1. In that era, a hospital did not mean a medical facility, but more of a care or rest home. In the street, we can see a man on a bicycle, with a small child sitting on the back.
