London's buses, from the old horse-drawn vehicles to 'Old Bill' and the modern Leviathans seating over 60 people, were televised in a 'Pageant of Transport' at London transport's Chiswick depot. A lorry driver, George Rutland, and his mate, Lewis Henry Rutland, brother of George, had miraculous escapes from injury when their lorry overturned at the junction of Burdett Road and Eric Street. The lorry, owned by E Rose, transport contractors, Kings Lynn, was laden with sacks of barley meal. The overturned when the driver skidded and trying to avoid a cyclist. The cabin was crushed. The first overhead wire, looking something like a wireless aerial has been erected near the forecourt of Victoria station in preparation for an experiment by London transport, which, it is hoped, will enable the movements of all buses to be automatically recorded on dials at the board's headquarters and congestion relieved.
