The couple's 57-year-old son, named by neighbours as Daniel Gardner was arrested today on suspicion of murdering his parents after answering the door to a nurse and home help when they made a routine visit this morning. Mr Gardner was himself blood stained and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. His injuries are not life threatening and he is now under arrest. Detectives are investigating the possibility of a planned mercy killing.
