After the 'Bullanga of Barcelona' on 25 July 1835, the Captain General of Catalonia, General Llauder, sent military forces to the city under the command of Field Marshal Bassa. On 5 August, he went to the Captaincy building where he was rebuked by the crowd demanding his resignation.
