RMMRJXN6–Isaac Komnenos ruler of Cyprus pleading with King Richard the Lionheart for the return of his daughter following the Third Crusade in 1194. Early in 1191, Berengaria of Navarre and Joan of England, the fiancée and sister of King Richard, were shipwrecked on Cyprus and Isaac Komnenos took them captive. In retaliation, King Richard conquered the island while on his way to Tyre and took Isaac prisoner. His daughter joined the court of King Richard and after the Third Crusade, traveled back to England with Berengaria of Navarre, now queen consort of England.

RMMRJY8P–Hubert Walter (c. 1160 – 13 July 1205) was an influential royal adviser in the late twelfth and early thirteenth centuries when King Richard I appointed Walter Bishop of Salisbury. Soon after his appointment, Walter accompanied the king on the Third Crusade, going ahead of the king directly from Marseille to the Holy Land in August 1190, and arrived at Acre two months later. While on crusade, he was praised by his fellow crusaders, and acted as Richard's principal negotiator with Saladin for a peace treaty.

RMMRJYGT–Following the capture of King Richard I in 1192 near Vienna by Austrian soldiers of Leopold V, Duke of Austria, he was held prisoner for some fifteen months. During that time, Prince John, Richard's brother, and King Philip of France offered 80,000 marks for the Emperor to hold Richard prisoner. The money to rescue the King was transferred to Germany by the emperor's ambassadors'at the king's peril' (had it been lost along the way, Richard would have been held responsible), and finally, on 4 February 1194 Richard was released. On Richards return John begged the king for forgiveness.

RMMRJY15–The Battle of Jaffa (1192) that took place during the Crusades, was one of a series of campaigns between the army of Sultan Saladin (Ṣalāḥ al-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Ayyūb) and the Crusader forces led by King Richard I of England (known as Richard the Lionheart). It was the final battle of the Third Crusade, after which Saladin and King Richard were able to negotiate a truce. Although the Crusaders did not regain possession of Jerusalem, Christian pilgrims were permitted entry into the city, and the Crusaders were able to retain control of a sizable strip of land stretching from Beirut to Jaffa.

Unusually for the wife of a Crusader, she accompany him on the start of the Third Crusade, but mostly lived in France, where she gave generously to the Church, despite difficulties in collecting the pension she was due from Richard's brother and successor John after she became a widow. She was a benefactress of L'Épau Abbey in Le Mans, entered the conventual life, and was buried in the abbey in 1230.
