RM2D74Y3M–A 1930's portrait of Howell county sheriff C. Roy Kelly, shot and killed by two members of the Barker Gang (Alvin Karpis and Fred Barker),while investigating a burglary at C.C. McCallon Clothing Store. One of the suspects was the same man responsible for the murder of Chief Manley Jackson, of the Pocahontas Police Department in Arkansas. FBI agents later shot and killed his murderer. The 2nd suspect was caught. He committed suicide in 1979. Kelly who was a Freemason was survived by his wife.who took over as sheriff. He was buried at the Masonic & Van Buren Cemetery.
