A flowering plant species in the palm family, Arecaceae, it is cultivated for its edible sweet fruit. Although its exact place of origin is uncertain because of long cultivation, it probably originated from the Fertile Crescent region straddling between Egypt and Mesopotamia. The species is widely cultivated across Northern Africa, the Middle East, the Horn of Africa and South Asia, and is naturalized in many tropical and subtropical regions worldwide.

RM2AJ9WR8–Plants: Acer saccharum, the sugar maple or rock maple is a species of maple native to the hardwood forests of eastern Canada and the northern parts of the Central and Eastern United States. The sugar maple is a major source of maple syrup. In production the sap is extracted from the trees using a tap placed into a hole drilled just inside the bark. The collected sap is then boiled, the water evaporated off and the syrup left behind. Forty gallons of maple sap are required to produce a gallon of pure syrup. Syrup production is however dependent on the tree growing in cooler climates.
