At the extreme right is the Memorial to two sergeants and two soldiers of the Piron Brigade killed on 18 August 1944.

RM2M99T2H–Opheusden was the centre of much fighting involving British, American and Belgian forces following the failure of Operation Market Garden to cross the Rhine at Arnhem. Inside the town hall here is a Memorial Screaming Eagle to the 101st AB Division and another on an outside wall. Also there is this Piron Brigade emblem in recognition of the Brigade's 3rd Battalion clearing of Opheusden on 18 April 1945. The Brigade landed on Gold Beach on D-Day and moved north just inside the French coastline, their progress marked now by a series of memorials similar to this one. The full story of the Brig

RM2M99MJ0–This plaque, on the gate-post of house 13-15 on the D514 in Sallenelles, acknowledges Gerard as the first Belgian killed in the Landings. He was killed on 16 August 1944 and the Memorial was put up by Dinant, where he had been born 20 years before. The plaque disappeared around 2009. Gerard was a member of the Piron Brigade and has another Memorial in Ranville church.

RM2M99MH6–Edouard Gerard was born in Dinant in the north-west of Belgium in 1924 and following the German invasion tried to escape to England but was captured. He was later released under the impression that he was a French Canadian. He joined the Piron Brigade, the Belgian First Infantry Brigade in England and landed with them at Courseulles. He was killed on 16 August 1944 at Sallenelles where there was once a memorial plaque to him - it disappeared in 2009.
