The Wet Dock at the port of Ipswich, Suffolk, England, UK photographed in its last days of commercial traffic in the mid-1960s. Here Thames sailing barges are still being used, mainly for the grain trade, on the River Orwell and the North Sea. Centre is ‘Ena’, a wooden barge built at W B McLearon's yard in Harwich, Essex in 1906. She is a notable World War II Dunkirk ‘little ship’ reputed to have rescued 100 men in 1940. A major regeneration of the area has taken place since the 1990s and the port’s commercial activity is now located further downstream – a vintage 1960s photograph. RM2H984P6–The Wet Dock at the port of Ipswich, Suffolk, England, UK photographed in its last days of commercial traffic in the mid-1960s. Here Thames sailing barges are still being used, mainly for the grain trade, on the River Orwell and the North Sea. Centre is ‘Ena’, a wooden barge built at W B McLearon's yard in Harwich, Essex in 1906. She is a notable World War II Dunkirk ‘little ship’ reputed to have rescued 100 men in 1940. A major regeneration of the area has taken place since the 1990s and the port’s commercial activity is now located further downstream – a vintage 1960s photograph.
