RM2BW2A09–Japanese Adml takes full responsibility for sinking of US gunboat and three steamers. Adml Kiyoshi Hasegawa, the Japanese naval commander, as a shameful responsibility for the air attacks by Japanese bombers which sunk the United States gunboat Panay, which had been serving as America's floating embassy and three American steamers near Nanking. 18 of the people aboard the gumbo a missing and many others were wounded. Britons are among the survivors. Adml Hasegawa has informed the United States naval authorities that he regrets the attacks, most deeply. 13 November 1937
RM2BW235R–This picture, just received in London from Shanghai, shows John R. Morris, the United Press correspondent, standing beside a wrecked car on the Nanking Road between the Cathay and Palace Hotels, just after several bombs had dropped, killing 140 and injuring 40 people. The bombs were dropped on Nanking Road after planes had attacked the Japanese worship Idzumo. A tremendous crater was left and about 20 cars were completely burnt out. Two foreign motorists were trapped and burned alive. 2 September 1937
