It was Britain's first international race for lady jockeys. The race was won by Irish trained ''Onward Tarce'', ridden by Rosemary Rooney, with 'Prince Gourmet', ridden by Brooke Sanders, 2nd. Ingrid Trautman, of Switzerland was 3rd on 'Springe'. Photo shows after winning the race Rosemary Rooney changed into a trouser suit, and is seen with a racing saddle, which was presented to her by Goya, the race's sponsor. He intends to submit the finished portrait to the Royal Academy.
