The photo was taken by U.S. Air Force pilot Alexander P. Macdonald. He later became the North Dakota Air National Guard's 119th Fighter Group commander Feb. 28, 1968. He was promoted to brigadier general Dec. 14, 1981 and major general in June, 2983. He was appointed as the North Dakota adjutant general in August, 1984.
